Body language reveals what words sometimes hide. While someone might be polite in conversation, their body tells the real story. Here's what to look for.
Positive Signs
- She faces you: Her body, especially her feet, point in your direction. We unconsciously orient toward people we're interested in.
- She maintains eye contact: Not just polite glances, but sustained, warm eye contact. Extra points if she holds it a beat longer than normal.
- She smiles with her eyes: A genuine smile (Duchenne smile) crinkles the eyes. A forced smile only moves the mouth.
- She finds reasons to touch: Lightly touching your arm, shoulder, or hand during conversation is a strong indicator of comfort and interest.
- She leans in: When someone is engaged, they naturally close the physical distance.
- She mirrors you: If you take a sip of water and she does too, or you lean back and she follows — mirroring is a subconscious sign of connection.
Signs She's Not Interested
- Crossed arms or legs: A closed-off posture signals discomfort or disinterest.
- Short answers: One-word responses with no follow-up questions mean she's not invested.
- Looking around: If her eyes are constantly scanning the room, she's looking for an exit.
- Physical distance: If she keeps stepping back or creating space, respect the boundary.
Important: Read body language as a pattern, not isolated signals. One smile doesn't mean she's in love — but a consistent cluster of positive signs is a good indicator. And always combine body language reading with direct, respectful communication.
